IMM Romania holds first edition of European Entrepreneur’s Day at European Parliament

IMM Romania organised on June 9 the first edition of the Entrepreneur’s Day at European level, at the European Parliament, an initiative that brought to the fore the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the future of competitiveness and digital transformation of the European Union.

According to the organisation, the event took place at a decisive moment for the European economy, marked by the negotiations on the future Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034, the implementation of European legislation on artificial intelligence and the need to strengthen the EU’s competitiveness in relation to the major global economies.

“With economic competitiveness, innovation and the adoption of new technologies at the forefront, the event brought together 150 participants representing the European Commission, the European Parliament, European business organisations and the technology ecosystem, to analyse how SMEs can capitalise on the opportunities generated by artificial intelligence and new European financing instruments.”

Discussions at the event addressed essential subjects for the development of the European entrepreneurial ecosystem, including: the role of the future European budget in supporting the digital transformation of SMEs; the adoption of artificial intelligence and access to advanced technologies; strengthening the cybersecurity capacity of companies; developing digital skills and talents needed for the economy of the future; reducing digitalisation gaps between member states and regions; increasing European competitiveness through innovation and entrepreneurship.

IMM  Romania has designed this event to strengthen dialogue between the entrepreneurial community and the European institutions and to contribute to drawing up public policies that better meet the needs of SMEs throughout the European Union.

“Europe cannot build competitiveness, strategic autonomy and technological leadership without SMEs. At a time when the European Union is redefining its economic priorities and preparing the future European budget, it is essential that their voice is present at the heart of the decision-making process. ‘Entrepreneur’s Day at European level’ is IMM Romania’s contribution to this European effort and brings together European entrepreneurs, business leaders and decision-makers to identify solutions that support the growth, innovation and competitiveness of European SMEs. That is why we propose to strengthen European competitiveness, accelerate investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure through AI Gigafactory and create a 2028-2034 financial framework that better meets the needs of SMEs,” IMM Romania Chairman Florin Jianu is quoted as saying in a press statement released by the organisation.
