House President conveys condolences over calamity after Libya floods

The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, expressed on Thursday her sincere condolences for the thousands of victims and strong solidarity with Libya in these difficult moments on behalf of all members of the House of Representatives, signing a Book of Condolences, which was opened at the Libyan Embassy in Nicosia, for the devastating floods that hit the country.

On her arrival at the Libyan Embassy in Cyprus, Demetriou expressed her sincere condolences to the Ambassador, Quwaydir Abrahim Quwaydir, for the thousands of victims caused by the storm “Daniel” in Libya.

In her message Demetriou wrote that “the unspeakable tragedy that had befallen Libya, as a result of the devastating flood caused by the Mediterranean storm “Daniel” has left us profoundly saddened.”

She added that “our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the bereaved families, the injured and the friendly people of Libya, so severely affected by this calamity.”

She also expressed, personally and on behalf of all Members of the House of Representatives, “our sincere condolences for the thousands of victims, our strong solidarity with Libya in these difficult moments and our best wishes for speedy relief and recovery.”

Ambassadors of countries are visiting the Libyan embassy to sign the Book of Condolences.
