According to quarterly national accounts data released by Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), Greece’s GDP increased by 2.0% in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same quarter of 2025. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2025, GDP rose by 0.2%.
According to the quarterly national accounts published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the 2% economic growth was attributable to the following factors.
Year-on-Year Changes (Q1 2026 vs. Q1 2025)
Total final consumption expenditure increased by 1.0%. Household consumption increased by 0.7%. General government consumption increased by 1.6%.
Private investment (gross fixed capital formation) increased by 12.1%.Exports of goods and services increased by 2.4%. Goods exports increased by 2.8%. Services exports increased by 3.1%.
Imports of goods and services increased by 0.5%. Goods imports decreased by 0.6%. Services imports increased by 3.2%.
Quarter-on-Quarter Changes (Q1 2026 vs. Q4 2025)
Total final consumption expenditure increased by 0.6%. Household consumption remained unchanged. General government consumption increased by 2.4%.
Gross fixed capital formation decreased by 2.5%.
Exports of goods and services increased by 0.3%. Goods exports decreased by 1.6%. Services exports increased by 1.2%.
Imports of goods and services decreased by 0.6%. Goods imports decreased by 1.9%. Services imports increased by 4.2%.
