Government spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, in an interview with SKAI radio, spoke about the economic policy of the government, the measures to deal with high prices, the prime minister’s letter to the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, of main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance’s the rhetoric, the imposition of taxes and the stake of the upcoming European elections.
On the high prices, the government spokesman said that “it is the biggest problem that every household faces, adding that it is important to present the issue in their real dimension.”
He also clarified that the problem of high prices “cannot be resolved simply by pressing a button.”
He underlined that the increase in income should and is the government’s absolute priority.
He also referred to the imposition of fines and the inspections carried out in the market. More specifically, he noted that a total of 44,000 inspections have been conducted over the last year alone and 19 million fines have been imposed.
Also regarding the reduction of unemployment, he stressed that “our country is in the best position in terms of employment in the last 15 years, which has created 400,000 jobs.”
