Greece files demarche with NATO over Twitter posting by LANDCOM in Izmir, diplomatic sources

Greece filed a demarche with NATO’s General Secretariat to protest a congratulatory message to Turkiye posted on social media by the Headquarters of the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) in Izmir, according to diplomatic sources.

The order for the demarche through Greece’s Permanent Representation in NATO was given by the Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry, the sources said.

In the demarche following a Twitter (X) posting, Greece termed as unacceptable the linking by LANDCOM of Turkiye’s national armed forces day with a day of victory over an Alliance member, they noted.
