Greece continues to be one of the top 15 most popular tourism destinations in the Australian, Canadian and U.S. markets while its popularity in the Indian market has soared, for the first time outstripping neighbouring China, according to a survey released by INSETE, the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

More specifically, Greece’s position in terms of travel intentions from more distant, non-European markets – namely the USA, Canada, China, India, and Australia – is outlined in Part B of the latest INSETE survey entitled “Profile of Key Markets of Greek Tourism”. These markets contributed approximately 11% of the total revenues from inbound tourism in both 2019 and 2023. The study is a continuation of the first part, which focused on the major European markets. It reflects both the travel intentions for the next 12 months and the consumer preferences of potential visitors to Greece from these important non-European markets, as well as the factors that influence their holiday decisions. The findings are based on an online survey conducted by Global Web Index (GWI) among individuals aged 16-64, during the January-February 2025 period, with a sample size of 12,205 respondents.
