GDP growth at 6.9 percent in the second quarter

According to preliminary statistics released by Monstat, Montenegro’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 6.9 percent in this year’s second quarter.

The Statistical Office stated in a press release that the GDP had amounted to nearly €1.69 billion in the second quarter, up from €1.42 billion in the last year’s corresponding period.

The press release stated that this was the highest growth recorded in Europe in this period.

In the region, Croatia saw a 2.7 percent growth in this period, while the GDP growth stood at 1.7 percent in Serbia and 1.4 percent in Slovenia.

According to Monstat, the GDP growth reached 6.4 percent last year.

Last year, the GDP per capita amounted to €9,600, while it amounted to €8,000 in 2021.
