From first compliance Cyprus fully implemented 6 recommendations, Cyprus Delegation to GRECO says

From the very first compliance, Cyprus managed to fully implement 6 GRECO recommendations while progress was made on a significant number of the remaining recommendations, the Cyprus Delegation to GRECO has said.

In a press release, it notes that on October 2, 2023, the Evaluation Report of Cyprus within the framework of GRECO’s Fifth Evaluation Round was published, containing 22 recommendations addressed to Cyprus. Today, the Compliance Report was made public with the measures taken by the Cypriot authorities to implement them.

Out of the 22 recommendations, it adds, Cyprus managed to fully implement 6 from the very first compliance, 4 concerning the Central Government, 2 concerning the Police. Additionally, progress was made on a significant number of the remaining recommendations. Specifically, out of the remaining 16 recommendations, 13 have been partially implemented (7 Central Government, 6 Police), while 3 have not yet been implemented (2 Central Government, 1 Police).

GRECO notes significant progress in several key areas of the “top executive functions” and welcomes specific actions taken in the “law enforcement agencies,” while encouraging the Cypriot authorities to carry out the ongoing reforms and promote further measures regarding the outstanding recommendations, the press release says.

According to Rule 30.2 of GRECO’s Rules of Procedure, the Cypriot Authorities are requested to submit a report on further measures taken to implement the outstanding Recommendations by December 31, 2026.

The English version of GRECO’s Compliance Report and the Greek translation are available on the website of the Law Office of the Republic, under the section “Information – Press Releases-Announcements.”
