“Freedom has a Name” invites citizens to the February 17 march

The “Freedom has a Name” platform called on the mayors of municipalities, including those who have already expressed their willingness and support, to join the February 17 protest “Justice, not politics”, which will be held in Pristina.

They also invited the citizens of Kosovo to participate in this major march, before the final word is given in The Hague, to testify, as they expressed, to the history of Kosovo and the sacrifice of the former KLA leaders, KosovaPress reports.

In a press conference, the representative of the “Freedom has a Name” Platform, Ismail Tasholli, said that Kosovo is in the last week before a historic decision, as the final phase of the trial in The Hague begins on the 9th of this month, which has not only legal, but also moral, historical and political importance for the country. He emphasized that this week is not just a procedural deadline, but a time when the final word is approaching and when Kosovo is being watched by the whole world.

“Their institutional support and cooperation are proof that this issue is being treated with the utmost seriousness and responsibility that it deserves. We also invite other mayors of municipalities to get involved in this national and patriotic mission by giving their contribution at a crucial moment for the dignity and future of Kosovo. A march for justice and not politics, a march not against anyone, but for the dignity of Kosovo, for the truth and for respecting the sacrifice on which our freedom is built”, said Tasholli.

Meanwhile, Eliza Hoxha emphasized that the march will be peaceful and that citizens have the moral right to express their position. She added that justice cannot be separated from historical truth.

“We believe that justice cannot be separated from historical truth. We believe that legal processes cannot be read without context, without the reality of what happened, without the aggressor and without the victim. And we believe that the citizens of Kosovo have the moral right to express their position in a peaceful and organized manner. The march we are calling for is of citizens, families, young people. It is also a march of veterans, those who fought, but also of all those who remember the war, and those who live after its end,” Hoxha added.

Five protests in defense of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) were organized last year by the categories that emerged from the war. In Pristina, The Hague, Tirana, Strasbourg and Skopje, thousands of Albanians protested with the slogan “Justice for the Liberators.”

Another protest will be held in Pristina on the anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo’s Independence.

The final phase of the process begins on Monday major trial in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim.
