Foreign ships make 490 cruise trips to Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Monstat, foreign ships made 490 cruise trips Montenegro last year.

Official statistics show that there were 626,090 passengers onboard these ships.

The most cruise trips last year were made by ships flying the flags of Malta (32.7 percent), the Bahamas (21.4 percent), Panama (12.7 percent), Norway and France (5.3 percent each), Italy (4.5 percent), Bermuda and the Marshall Islands (4.1 percent each), Belgium (3.5 percent), and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (1.8 percent).

The Statistical Office explained in a press release that the purpose of survey on cruise trips by foreign ships was to collect data on the number of cruise trips made by foreign ships docking at ports in Montenegro’s territorial waters, as well as the number of passengers on those cruises.

“Data collection is carried out using the reporting method. The reporting units are port authorities, with the report filled out for the first entry of the ship into Montenegro’s territorial waters,” the press release concludes.
