Flood on Romanian sector of Danube, estimated on September 28-29; 1,000 sandbags prepared by authorities
Bucharest, September 20 /Agerpres/ – The intervention teams from Arges-Vedea Romanian Waters have prepared 1,000 sandbags and other materials to transport them to the Romanian sector of the Danube, in order to complete the defense stock against the flood forecast for September 28-29, informs the Romanian Waters National Administration (ANAR) in a Friday’s post on its official Facebook account.
According to the quoted source, the seven Water Basin Administrations have started informing all holders of hydrotechnical works with the role of defense against floods from the Danube on the hydrological forecast issued by the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA).
The hydrological forecast shows that the flow on the Danube, at the entrance to the country (Bazias section), in the interval 19 – 20 September 2024, was increasing to the value of 5,100 mc/s, above the multi-annual average in September, of 3,800 mc/s.
In Budapest, on Friday, a maximum Danube flow rate of 7,940 mc/s is forecast, and for September 21, of approximately 8,300 mc/s, by 400 mc/s less than the initial forecasts, of 8,700 mc/s.
