Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – National carrier Air Montenegro is expected to launch flights to Brussels, Frankfurt and Zagreb in late November, its representatives announced.
Brussels, Frankfurt and Zagreb are three of the five Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes awarded to Air Montenegro through a tender issued by the Ministry of Transport.
The remaining two routes, to Bari and Paris, are expected to begin operating in mid-December.
Executive Director of Air Montenegro Vukadin Stojanovic said at a breakfast meeting with journalists that the airline had already secured slots for all five destinations.
“Flights to Paris and Bari will begin in mid-December, while Frankfurt, Brussels and Zagreb will be launched in the last week of November. All PSO routes will operate three times a week,” Stojanovic announced.
A Public Service Obligation (PSO) arrangement allows the state to offer subsidies to airlines through a public procurement process. The airline that wins the tender is then required to operate services on specified routes for a defined period in return for an agreed payment.
Air Montenegro was the only airline to submit a bid in the tender launched by the Ministry of Transport for the introduction of routes from Podgorica to Zagreb, Bari, Brussels, Paris and Frankfurt.
