Comedy legend and Oscar-nominee Bill Murray, one of America’s most acclaimed artists, received this weekend a star on Sibiu’s Walk of Fame, as he was a guest in the city for the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS). The actor humorously remarked that he did not know “that people would get to step” on his name, while also thanking the Romanians for the welcome they gave him.

Building on the festival’s theme – ‘THANK YOU’, he offered thanks, including to Sibiu citizens and all Romanians, and also gave a grateful nod to those who made his work possible: the professional actors in Chicago who helped hone his professional mastery, the actors he teamed up with in New York and the extraordinary technicians he worked with in television and film.

Bill Murray was the star of Sunday, the last day of FITS, as he took the stage at the Sibiu State Philharmonic House, alongside cellist Jan Vogler and Friends Vanessa Perez & Mira Wang in the show “New Worlds”, one of the festival’s most anticipated events and one of the first to sell out.

The curtain fell on the Sibiu International Theater Festival on Sunday evening, after a ten-day bounty of cultural events – no less than 842, that brought 5,000 artists from 82 countries to the city.

This year’s theme – THANK YOU – was symbolic of the connection between generosity, joy, the power of giving, emotion and the relationship between artists and the public, mediated by all those who contribute to supporting this wonderful process.
