FDI exceed 856.99 million at the end of 2023

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to preliminary statistics of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the total inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) amounted to €856.99 million at the end of the last year, while the outflow totalled €428.32 million.

The latest CBCG Bulletin says that net foreign direct investments amounted to €428.67 million between January and December 2023, up 45.23 percent year on year.

“The total inflow of foreign direct investments was 25.59 percent lower than in the corresponding period, which is a result of a decrease in the investments based on the intercompany debt, and investments in companies and banks, and the withdrawal of investments from foreign countries,” the Bulletin says.

The residents’ investments abroad amounted to €91.92 million, while the withdrawal of money invested in Montenegro by non-residents amounted to €336.4 million last year.

The FDI inflow related to the ownership investments amounted to €558.44 million, which accounts for 65.16 percent of the total inflow. Of that amount, the inflow based on the real estate investments amounted to €463.18 million, while the investments in companies and banks amounted to €95.26 million.

The FDI inflow in the form of intercompany debt amounted to €264.65 million, which accounts for 30.88 percent of the total inflow.
