ZAGREB, 9 Aug (Hina) – The value of Croatian commodity exports in the first six months of 2024 was €11.5 billion, 0.3% down from the same period of 2023, while imports grew by 4.2% to €21.1 billion, show preliminary figures from the national statistical office (DZS), published on Friday.
The foreign trade deficit was €9.6 billion, and the export-import ratio was 54.4%. In H1 2023, the export-import ratio was 56.9%.
According to DZS data, Croatia exported €7.6 billion worth of goods to EU member countries in the first half of this year, which is 3.9% down from the first half of 2023. The value of commodity imports from EU countries grew by 8.2% to €16.6 billion.
Exports to non-EU members grew by 7.6% to €3.8 billion, and imports from those countries dropped by 8.2% to €4.5 billion.
The DZS today published revised data on trade in the first five months of this year, which show that exports stayed at the same level compared to the first five months of 2023, at €9.6 billion, while imports increased by 5.4% to €17.6 billion. The revised data show that the foreign trade deficit in the first five months of this year totalled eight billion euros, while the export-import ratio was 54.4%.
