The 15-member Olympic team of Cyprus had an excellent presence in the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, the most important moment being the Silver medal Pavlos Kontides won in sailing.
The results recorded in all eight sports in which the Cyprus Olympic Committee’s delegation and the overall presence of Cypriot athletes with many high positions, both by the most experienced athletes and by athletes who made their debut in the Olympics, sent encouraging messages for the future.
Most notably, Marios Georgiou took the 6th place in the horizontal bar final, while Elena Kulichenko took the 7th place in the High Jump final. Milan Trajkovic took 9th place and Olivia Fotopoulou the 23rd place in their respective semi-final appearances.
Cyprus finished 74th in the medals table, together with Fiji, Jordan, Mongolia and Panama.
