European Castles Fair – 19 historical sites promoted at Corvin Castle

The Corvin Castle in western Hunedoara will host on Friday and Saturday the 9th edition of the European Castles Fair, an event in which 19 historical sites with tourist potential from Romania, Bulgaria and Poland will promote their offer and leisure possibilities for visitors.

The fair takes place in the Knights’ Hall, where the stands of the 19 exhibitors have been set up, while fights between knights and archery and sword lessons are being organised in the outer courtyard of Corvin Castle.

“As usual, Corvin Castle is honoured to host an event that aims to promote in a unified, coherent and efficient way important cultural and historical sites from Romania and other European countries. Years ago, we assumed this position, believing that only through cooperation can important tourist objectives truly enrich the knowledge of the simple visitor and offer him special visiting experiences that will remain in his memory and soul as extremely pleasant memories. During these special days, visitors to Corvin Castle will have the opportunity to enjoy interesting moments organised within our fair and to get to know other very special cultural-historical sites, through the stands having been set up,” said the mayor of Hunedoara, Dan Boboutanu.

Present at the official opening of the fair, the secretary of state in the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Lucian Rus put forward the idea of developing a “castles route” to be promoted in the country, but especially abroad and to contribute to increasing the number of tourists in Hunedoara and the entire area.

Besides the exhibitors’ stands, the fair programme includes medieval fighting demonstrations, archery lessons and sword lessons offered by the Order of the Knights of Hunedoara and the Castle of the Carpathians Association.
