Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro will hold an intergovernmental conference in Brussels to close five chapters in EU accession negotiations.
Montenegro should close chapters 3 – Right to Establishment and Freedom to Provide Services, 4 – Free Movement of Capital, 6 – Company Law, 11 – Agriculture and Rural Development and 13 – Fisheries.
Montenegro began EU accession negotiations on June 29, 2012.
So far, the country has opened all 33 chapters and provisionally closed seven.
The goal of the Government of Montenegro is to close all remaining chapters by the end of next year, so that the country would be ready to become the 28th member of the EU in 2028.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently said that the EU can move on to the next stage of Montenegro’s accession process and soon begin work on the accession treaty.
