Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, will visit Turkey on 2 December, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip
Erdogan.
According to the press release from his office, Milatovic spoke with Erdogan during the COP29 Summit in Baku about further strengthening of the partnership between Montenegro and Turkey, as well as about economic cooperation.
Milatovic said that during his upcoming official visit to Turkey, which will take place on 2 December, initiatives will be discussed that will open a new perspective and improve relations to a strategic level.
“Montenegro and Turkey share historical ties and a common commitment to the stability of the region. As NATO allies, we make a full contribution to the improvement of regional stability”, said he.
Milatovic stressed that they are ready to jointly use the economic potential and strengthen the trade exchange between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism, health and education.
“He recalled the important role of Montenegrin emigrantion in Turkey, adding that they represent an extraordinary link and bridge of cooperation between the two countries”, the press release said.
Erdogan confirmed that Turkey recognizes Montenegro as a friendly country and a NATO ally it wants to further strengthen relations with and develop cooperation in all fields.
“He welcomed Montenegro’s the role in the Balkans, which he assessed as contribution to peace and a role model of stability and prosperity”, the press release concluded.
