The expansion of bilateral synergies for new projects, investment initiatives and technology actions at European and global level in shipping were the examined through visits by 11 German companies to shipping infrastructure in Piraeus from October 13 to 16, the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry said in a statement on Friday.
In addition, there were 110 B2B contacts on October 14, highlighting the importance of Greek-German synergies in the shipping and shipyard sectors and the joint commitment to innovation, sustainability, and green transition.
The event was organized by the Hellenic-German Chamber, with the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the support of Navigator Shipping Consultants Ltd, following an initiative of Germany’s federal Economy and Energy Ministry. Accompanying the German companies were representativse of related state and agency representatives, including the union of German chambers, among others.
The business delegation paid a visit to the Skaramangas Shipyards, where CEO Miltidis Varvitsiotis briefed them on the business’ state, prospects, and role of strategic cooperations to boost the sector. The delegation then visited the Elefsina Port Authority, where CEO and Hellenic Ports Association President Apostolos Kamarinakis presented the port’s actions and ongoing environmental works.
Meetings were concluded on October 16 with an event at the Piraeus marine Club, where representatives of Greek and German agencies and businesses exchanged views on future prospects of cooperation.
