TIRANA, May 25 /ATA/ – Albania’s public hydropower stations generated a total of  1162 GWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2024, down by 28.1% from 1614 GWh of electricity produced during the same period of the previous year.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) report on electricity production released earlier this week, the privately-held power plants and plants operated under concession in Albania produced 1246 GWh of electricity up from 1156 GWh during the same period of 2023, marking an increase by 7.8 %.

INSTAT data show that the gross electricity import in the first quarter of 2024 was estimated 535 GWh from 246 GWh during the same period of the previous year.

Albania’s electricity export fell by 10% to 814 GWh from 904 GWh in the same period of 2023.
