Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Public Administration Marash Dukaj said that digital connectivity, a safer digital environment and stronger regional cooperation are key prerequisites for economic development and the integration of the Western Balkans into Europe’s digital landscape.
He said that representatives of the region’s six economies would gather around the same table at the Western Balkans Digital Summit, which begins tomorrow in Herceg Novi, to discuss issues that transcend national borders.
“Data, services and markets do not stop at borders, and neither do cyber threats,” Dukaj said, noting that more affordable roaming, digital identity, better-quality electronic services and a more secure digital environment were among the key areas of regional cooperation.
According to him, Montenegro is entering these processes with tangible results, including the closure of negotiating Chapter 10 and the fact that it is the only economy in the region that is a full member of the Digital Europe Programme.
He announced that Montenegro’s ICT community would showcase its capabilities to around 250 participants.
The general sponsor of the Western Balkans Digital Summit is M:tel, and its Director, Zoran Milovanovic, expressed satisfaction with the company’s participation in the regional event.
“I am very proud that our company is once again demonstrating its full commitment to the highest values by supporting the Western Balkans Digital Summit,” Milovanovic said.
He added that M:tel, as a telecommunications leader, aims to contribute to creating a secure and competitive digital environment by supporting economic growth and the digital integration of the Western Balkans into the broader European landscape.
