Dorotej Neshovski’s ‘Night Forest’ art show opens at MKC

Skopje, 14 August 2024 (MIA) — Macedonian artist Dorotej Neshovski’s solo exhibition titled “Night Forest: Uncertain Meanings and the Way Through the Unknown” opens Wednesday at the MKC Youth Cultural Center and will be open until Aug. 24.

The exhibition is dedicated to “the transformative potential of several unique formal elements and materials [Neshovski] works with in different formats: colored pencils, verticals, shadows, transparent layers,” according to visual artist Darko Aleksovski.

Dorotej Neshovski (b. 1989, Skopje) is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the concepts of creative spontaneity, art articulation, social inclusion, pedagogy, and the relation between audiences and artists.

He studied Sculpture and Set Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. His interests include participatory activities, mapping and resonance methodologies, research practices and children’s education.

He is the author of the book “Art is Not What You Want” (Private Print, 2017).

Neshovski is one of the founders and a member of the art group “SEE”, established in 2012. Since 2015, he has been the MKC Children’s Creative Center program coordinator, children’s workshops organizer and art teacher. mr/
