Kosovo has not identified any cases of HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) so far and there is no reason to panic.
This is what the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, stated, adding that they are in continuous contact with the appropriate mechanisms.
Minister Vitia said that there is no reason to panic regarding this disease.
The Director of the Epidemiology Department at the national institute of public health of Kosovo, Ariana Kalaveshi, stated that Kosovo has not yet been affected by this virus, and emphasized that there is no need for panic.
Kalaveshi emphasized that the confirmation of HMPV is done through respiratory tests.
The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo has issued guidelines regarding Human Metapneumovirus, following a possible increase in cases in several regions. According to the NIPHK, HMPV is more likely to spread from an infected person to others through: droplets during coughing and sneezing, close personal contact such as kissing, touching, or shaking hands, touching objects or surfaces that have the virus on them, and then touching the mouth, nose, or eyes./
