Dizdar: E-Governance ensures transparency and enables us to be a true service for citizens
SARAJEVO, November 20 (FENA) – The United States Government, in collaboration with the FBiH Ministry of Justice, hosted the conference “Digital Transformation in the Federation of BiH: Successful Examples for Better Public Administration” in Sarajevo today, as part of USAID’s E-Governance Project.
The event highlighted the U.S. Government’s commitment to partnering with the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) to modernize public administration and improve its efficiency, transparency, and accountability. The conference showcased digital solutions and recent legislative reforms in the FBiH that enhance the delivery of public services to citizens.
Through USAID, the U.S. Government supports Bosnia and Herzegovina in developing a modern e-governance system aligned with international standards.
THe FBiH Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar emphasized that the Federation of BiH Government recognizes e-governance as one of the best ways for public administration to demonstrate that it is genuinely a service for its citizens.
“E-governance is a system that ensures complete transparency, efficiency, and equal access to administrative rights for all participants in the system. On one hand, it demonstrates the public administration’s transparency and readiness to serve all citizens equally with measurable outcomes. On the other hand, as seen in our fiscal reform law, it prevents system abuses while increasing fiscal and financial stability,” Dizdar explained.
He noted that the FBiH Government, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy and USAID, has already taken several steps in this direction.
“This effort is being led by the Federal Ministry of Justice, but the entire Government, through fiscal laws, is working to make e-governance a priority and simplify procedures for citizens—one of the cornerstones of democracy,” Dizdar added.
The U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael J. Murphy underscored the recognition of progress in digitalizing the public sector in BiH, particularly in the FBiH, while encouraging further advancements with the potential to genuinely transform the country.
“The days of waiting in long lines with piles of paperwork should soon be behind us. In the digital age, citizens and businesses demand modern, efficient, and accountable public services. Transparency and responsible governance are key to earning public trust, and digital transformation plays a crucial role in providing higher-quality public services and improving the business environment,” Ambassador Murphy stated.
He added that through USAID’s E-Governance program, the U.S. aims to introduce digital tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability, thereby protecting taxpayer funds and combating corruption.
“These reforms not only improve services for citizens and businesses but also modernize governmental processes to make them more efficient and accountable. The United States encourages all BiH institutions at all levels to embrace this digital era,” he concluded.
Through the USAID E-Governance Project, the Federation of BiH is making significant strides in areas such as federal inspections, public procurement, and construction permitting, supported by the development of advanced digital solutions.
In partnership with the FBiH Ministry of Justice, key legislative reforms have been implemented, laying the groundwork for further digital development to ensure public services become more accessible and efficient for both citizens and businesses.
