Accelerating the development and operational utilisation of autonomous and unmanned systems, with the goal of making the Hellenic Navy the leader in Europe in the deployment of autonomous platforms by 2030, was set as a priority by Defence Minister Nikos Dendias.
Speaking on Tuesday after the inauguration of the Joint Unmanned and Autonomous Maritime Systems Training Centre at the Skaramangas Naval Fort (KANELLOPOULOS Naval Base), located at the PALASKAS Training Centre of the Naval Training Command, Dendias stressed:
“The next step includes the production of the Greek-designed unmanned vessel ‘Pyrpolitis’ in large numbers, to reinforce the Hellenic Navy, as well as the development of larger autonomous and unmanned vessels.”
He highlighted that “Agenda 2030” is acquiring tangible substance through the creation of infrastructure, that supports the Armed Forces’ transition into the new era.
