Cyprus-Iran FMs agree that dialogue is important in pursuit of lasting regional de-escalation
Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos met on Thursday with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Kombos posted on X that they discussed core aspects of ongoing regional developments, including ensuring freedom of navigation, in full respect with international law.
”Reiterated the importance of comprehensive dialogue and effective diplomacy, in pursuit of lasting regional de-escalation”, he posted.
He also met with Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. ”Appreciative of the pertinent exchange of views, with a focus on the situation in our broader region. Reiterated full solidarity with the Government and people of Saudi Arabia”, the Cyprus FM posted on X.
The Minister also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Zheenbek Kulubaev, after his visit to Bishkek in past July.
”We reviewed the next steps in our bilateral relations, and our cooperation in the multilateral context. We also exchanged views on the way ahead in EU-Kyrgyzstan relations, and the upcoming prospects in EU-Central Asia relations”, he posted on X.
He also met with his counterpart from San Marino Luca Beccari. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations building on recent high-level contacts, multilateral cooperation and EU-San Marino Association Agreement.
Kombos held a meeting with his counterpart from Tanzania Mahmoud Kombo, following his visit to the country last year.
”We reiterated our mutual commitment to further strengthen the framework of bilateral relations”, he wrote on X.
FM also met with the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Ricardo Paterno di Montecupo.
”Discussion focused on deepening cooperation in healthcare and humanitarian assistance, including support to vulnerable groups”, he posted on X.
