Customs revenues increase by 14 percent

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Customs Administration collected a total of €133 million in customs revenues in October, €17.12 million, or 14.8 percent more compared to the same period last year.

According to a press release from the customs authority, the revenue plan for this period has been exceeded by €5.95 million or 4.7 percent.

“In terms of the revenue structure, growth was recorded across all categories,” the press release reads.

The Customs Administration has continued the positive trend in revenue collection through the consistent implementation of activities aimed at improving and enforcing measures related to the proper application of customs and tax regulations, correct classification of goods under the customs tariff, and determination of customs value, alongside enhanced monitoring measures using systematic risk analysis.

“From January to October, gross revenues amounted to €1.19 billion, approximately €105.72 million, or 9.8 percent, more than in the same period last year. The revenue plan for this period was exceeded by €32.27 million, or around 2.8 percent,” the press release reads.

The highest significant revenue growth was recorded from value-added tax (VAT) on imports, which amounted to €777.76 million, which is €68.49 million, or 9.7 percent, more than in last year’s corresponding period.

“A total of €347.15 million was collected in excise duties, which is €28.45 million, or 8.9 percent, more than last year,” the Customs Administration stated.

Revenue collected from tariffs amounted to €59.08 million, which is €8.58 million, or 17 percent, more than in the same period last year, while the coffee tax and other revenues totalled €2.37 million and €211,240, respectively.

“The results of gross customs revenues surpass previous levels, confirming the Customs Administration’s commitment to the efficient implementation of fiscal policy and the strengthening of the state’s budget revenues,” the press release concluded.
