President Vjosa Osmani, in her speech at the Summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, stated that Kosovo has had the support of every US administration since the beginning of the 90s and believes that this support will continue with President Donald Trump’s administration.
Osmani said that Kosovo will contribute to the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic relations, as such a thing is in the interest of security and world peace.
“It is an initiative that strongly believes in the partnership between the European countries as well as the United States. So it believes on the Euro Atlantic shared values. I believe, as a country that has so fundamentally benefited from this Euro-Atlantic partnership that the election of President Trump will continue to strengthen this relationship and of course, we shall all give a contribution in that regard. I strongly believe that this strong cooperation between Europe and the United States will continue, is at the benefit of world’s security and peace”, said Osmani.
Speaking about the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels, Osmani added that discussions are continuing between the chief negotiators on how to implement the agreements reached, as she called for the continuation of support for Ukraine.
“Discussions are ongoing in Brussels between chief negotiators, mainly on how we can move on with the implementation of the agreements that have been reached. Over here as you know, the topics have been set, it’s mostly how we can all join as European countries in finding solutions for issues like peace, stability, economic security, as well as the energy crisis. So we will give our small but I think important contribution, and at the same time, of course, we will call for the continuation of the support for Ukraine because we believe that that is not just a threat to the sovereignty of Ukraine but a threat to security of us all, and the stronger we are the more united we are in dealing with this security challenge in our continent, the better for all of us”, said Osmani.
Meanwhile, regarding the victory of Republican Donald Trump, the president of Kosovo has emphasized that she does not see him as a threat.
“I do not see it as a threat, Kosovo has in fact benefited for decades from a very bipartisan support from the United States. We became independent when Republicans were in power, we became free when Democrats were in power, we worked very closely with every administration, and I strongly believe it will continue to be so”, she said.
The President emphasized that it is an opportunity to improve our relations and to have a strong role of the United States in matters related to peace, stability, security and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
The European Political Community was founded on the principle of the equal position of all members, all countries within the European continent, with the aim of not only discussing, but also finding solutions to common challenges.
