Croatian motorways among best in world

ZAGREB, 21 July (Hina) – Croatian motorways are among the best in Europe and the world, Croatian motorways operator HAC said on Friday, citing the World Economic Forum.
The World Economic Forum has published a report including the ranking of the quality of road infrastructure in 141 countries. With an average score of 5.6, Croatia shares 12th place with Denmark and Taiwan.
The ranking is topped by Singapore with a score of 6.5. Croatia is ahead of some of the much more developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Qatar and the United States.
Among Croatia’s neighbours, Slovenia ranks 36th and Hungary 69th.
HAC recalled that in 2018, with an average score of 5.5, Croatia ranked 13th among 137 countries, sharing the ranking with Denmark, Oman, Germany, Spain, Qatar, Sweden and Luxembourg. In this group, only Croatia and Spain have made improvements to their road infrastructure.
“The quality of our motorways is the result of continued investment in infrastructure through routine and non-routine maintenance and through investment in projects to increase road safety,” the company said.
