ZAGREB, 29 Sept (Hina) – The European Commission has disbursed €835.6 million to Croatia, representing the sixth payment for the country under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The reforms and investments tied to this payment will drive positive change for Croatian citizens and businesses — notably in the areas of health, fight against corruption, geothermal exploration and hydrogen development, water management, resilience against natural disasters, the electricity grids of islands, and energy security,” the Commission said on Monday.

The latest payment covers 26 milestones and targets.

The total funds paid out to Croatia under the Recovery and Resilience Facility now stand at €5.3 billion, which is around 53% of the total allocation, including initial funds allocated at the start of the plan. Croatia’s overall recovery and resilience plan is financed by €10 billion, in grants and loans.

Croatia submitted its request for the sixth tranche on 20 December, but later asked for an eight-week delay as the legal framework to redefine and improve the management of state-owned companies had not been adopted.
