Cooperation with Albania has significant potential

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The trade in agricultural products between Montenegro and Albania is significant, and the respective ministries of the two countries believe that there is potential for mutual cooperation in the areas of agriculture, food safety, fisheries, and water management.

At the invitation of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Jokovic, a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania, led by Minister Anila Denaj, paid a visit to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of Montenegro.

In addition to representatives of the Albanian Ministry, the delegation included Ambassador of Albania to Montenegro Zhaklina Peto, and Deputy Mayor of Scutari Onid Bejleri.

A meeting was held at the ministerial level, during which the potential for mutual cooperation in agriculture, food safety, fisheries, and water management was thoroughly discussed.

The meeting focused on two agreements signed in February last year, at a joint meeting of the two governments – the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Health Protection and the Agreement on Joint Sustainable Fisheries Management in Lake Skadar and the Bojana River.

The meeting highlighted the importance of foreign trade in agricultural products between Montenegro and Albania, with a special focus on the import and export of fruits, vegetables, milk, beer, wine, and essential oils.
