Constitutional Court ruled in more than 150 cases this week

Podgorica, (MINA) – During this week, the Constitutional Court of Montenegro ruled on more than 150 constitutional appeals from 2023, thus continuing to effectively implement the Plan for resolving the backlog of cases and protecting human rights at the national level, the court announced.

The Constitutional Court stated that two panels of judges responsible for deciding on constitutional appeals upheld 18 constitutional appeals, found violations of human rights and, due to established violations, annulled the decisions of regular courts and returned the cases for retrial.

“130 constitutional appeals were rejected, six discarded, unanimity was not reached in two cases, while in one case the proceedings were suspended”, the press release said.

The Court also stated that the panels withdrew ten cases from consideration.
