Skopje, 11 June 2026 (MIA) — Jana Naskova’s first photography exhibition will open at 8 pm at the Laboratorium cultural center, as a result of her monthlong residency under “The City Wall for New Faces on the Macedonian Cultural Scene” initiative aiming to support emerging independent artists.

According to organizers in a press release, Naskova worked under the mentorship of visual artist and photographer Edze Ali over the past month on her photography project inspired by local urban spaces.

The “New Faces” initiative focuses on discovering and promoting talented artists within the local independent art scene. An expert panel of judges selected eight young people for monthlong art residencies, pairing each with an experienced mentor to create public works through the end of the year. Naskova’s exhibition is the first of eight planned events. Admission is free.

Jana Naskova (b. 2001, Skopje) graduated from an interdisciplinary liberal arts and sciences program in Amsterdam, focusing on film, philosophy and literature.

Laboratorium is a private cultural center that serves as a community hub for independent culture in Skopje. Over the past two and a half years, the venue has hosted more than 550 events, including workshops, concerts and film screenings.

The “New Faces” initiative is funded by the Swiss Agency for the Development and Cooperation through its Culture for Development Project, managed by the Heartefact Fund. mr/
