The government remains committed to exempting agri-food from US tariffs, Premier Giorgia Meloni’s office at Palazzo Chigi in Rome said Thursday.

“The Government remains committed, together with the European Commission and other EU member states, to further increase the exempt product sectors in the coming months, as envisaged in the joint declaration, starting with the agri-food sector,” said a Palazzo Chigi press release on the EU-US joint declaration formalizing the agreement on 15% tariffs, emphasizing that “particular efforts will also be made to conclude an agreement on steel and aluminum, also envisaged in the joint declaration.”
