CDT: Parliament passes 25 laws in 87 minutes

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Parliament of Montenegro passed 25 laws in just 87 minutes on Monday, the Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) stated, adding that European integration process should not be used as an excuse to adopt regulations without public debate.

Deputy CDT executive director Milena Gvozdenovic said that the laws, together with accompanying materials, total 4,457 pages.

“The decision not to discuss these laws in detail represents another step in the degradation of parliament and democratic procedures, all under the guise of European integration”, the press release said.

Gvozdenovic added that, even though some MPs certainly believe that by doing so they have “passed” the administrative test of speed in adopting laws, it is their task and obligation to provide citizens with insight into solutions that directly affect their daily lives through parliamentary debate.
