Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Alternative Montenegro has called on citizens to boycott supermarkets and stores in the country on Friday.
“On Friday, we are calling for a boycott of supermarkets and stores in Montenegro, without exception. This has nothing to do with politics – high prices affect all citizens equally,” stated a press release issued by the NGO.
According to the press release, the same action was carried out in neighbouring Croatia and yielded results. Moreover, the same initiative has also been announced in Bosnia and Herzegovina for Friday.
“Alternative Montenegro plans to organize the same in Montenegro,” the press release states.
They believe that prices are excessively high and that leading retail chains, through mutual agreements on price setting, are responsible for the fact that citizens have not fully felt the increase in wages and pensions.
