BTA, Bulgarian Book Association Sign Partnership Agreement

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) signed a partnership agreement with the Bulgarian Book Association (BBA) at the National Press Club here on Thursday. The document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and BBA Steering Committee President Desislava Alexieva.

Valchev said that BTA will have its national press club at the Book Fair. “This will be the first moveable BTA national press club because its location will change depending on the venue where the Book Fair will take place. This is in keeping with the idea of reading because it enables you to move from one place to another,” the BTA Director General added.

Aleksieva noted that this partnership is strategic for BBA and said that BTA is a reliable source of information. “Media literacy is not only about being able to read and write. It is about being able to understand media texts,” Aleksieva said.

50th edition of Sofia International Book Fair opens Dec. 5

The 50th edition of the International Book Fair in Sofia will take place under the motto “We Create Stories. We Create History”. The opening is on December 5, and the forum continues until December 10.

The 11th edition of the Sofia International Literary Festival is also taking place from December 5 to 10. One of the highlights of the forum is Scandinavian literature. Among the foreign authors who will be guests at the forum are Agustina Bazterrica, Annette Bjergfeldt, Egill Bjarnason, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, Max Seeck, and Selja Ahava.

“We are trying to turn the Bulgarian participation in the festival into something exclusive: to invite writers who have published important books this year, to emphasize on important presence. This year such presence will be Theodora Dimova,” said Prof. Amelia Licheva.

On the first day of the Book Fair, the organizers will announce the winners of the Golden Lion Prize in two categories: most significant societal project and most significant publishing project.
