TIRANA, July 28/ ATA/ Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla was today for an inspection at the passenger terminal in the Port of Durrës, where there is being handled a high influx of passengers.
Minister Balla expressed a positive assessment of the work of the police in the port and highlighted the identification of criminal offenses related to various forms of drug trafficking or other illegal activity.
“It is very important to maintain our border crossing point of the Port of Durrës as a reliable point for EU countries, not only with our neighbor country, Italy. Therefore, we need to increase our control power, but this should not in any way affect the quality of service to all passengers passing through the port of Durrës”, said the minister.
Balla said that there is a high influx of passengers, which means a higher commitment of Police employees.
“During the last 5 days, there have been 35 thousand passengers handled. According to the figures reported to me by the General Director of the Police and the Director of the Border Department, I am talking about the figures of the detection of various crimes, in the last 6 months there has been an increase in making evident a series of criminal offenses. Naturally, the identification of criminal offenses related to various forms of traffic is of great significance and interest to us. I’m not only talking about the trafficking of narcotics, but also about illegal border crossing,” said Balla. /p.s./
