Centre-left Democratic Party (PD) MEP Lucia Annunziata said Friday she would not take part in next week’s mission to Israel by a European Parliament delegation to protest this week’s Israeli parliament vote to annex the occupied West Bank and settler violence.

“I have decided not to participate in a European Parliament delegation mission to Israel at the invitation of the Knesset, scheduled for next week,” said Annunziata, a former TV journalist.

“The recent approval of the law for the annexation of the West Bank and the continued and indiscriminate attacks on the United Nations demonstrate that the Israeli Parliament is not ready to talk about peace.

This decision was made in agreement with the Democratic Party at the national level,” she said.
