The amendment of the Ministry of Environment and Energy was submitted on Thursday to Parliament, with which the necessary changes are made to the framework for the smooth implementation and continuation of the construction of the Cyprus-Crete electrical interconnection.
As the Ministry of the Interior noted, these are critical political and regulatory decisions for the implementation of the Crete project which is of strategic importance for Greece, Cyprus, but also for the entire EU, as it will connect Cyprus to Europe’s electrical system, facilitating its energy transition and at the same time promote Greece’s goal of becoming a “clean” energy transport corridor.
The amendment was tabled by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis and follows the framework of understanding, signed last Friday between the Republic of Cyprus and the Greek Government, regarding mutual commitments.
