Almost 230,000 Montenegrin citizens speak a foreign language

Podgorica, (MINA) – 229,560 thousand citizens of Montenegro aged 15 and more, speak a foreign language, while the largest percentage, 37.97 per cent, speaks English, the data from the Population Census published today by Monstat demonstrated.

According to Monstat, 164,180 people speak one foreign language, 53,261 people speak two foreign languages, while 12,117 people speak three or more foreign languages.

The highest percentage of the population speaks English, 37.97 per cent, Russian 7.46 per cent, Italian 4.83 per cent, German 3.72 per cent, French 2.01 per cent, and Spanish 1.02 per cent.

According to the obtained data, English is spoken most by the citizens of the coastal municipalities, and the least by those in Petnjica, Pluzine and Savnik.
