ZAGREB, 8 March (Hina) – Several associations and the SSSH trade union on Friday held a rally in front of Government House in St. Mark’s Square on the occasion of International Women’s Day under the slogan “Safe in the workplace, free from abuse!”.

The rally was organized by the Women’s Network of Croatia, the Women’s Section of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia and the Center for Education, Counseling and Research, in cooperation with other women’s organizations and initiatives.

One of the activists said that they had rallied to send a message that they were not satisfied with the status of women and that they would like to forward their demands to the government to improve this status.

They raised their voice against sexual harassment and discrimination against women in the workplace, and criticized the authorities for doing little to prevent violence against women in their workplace.

They read out reports made by some of women who suffered abuse in the workplace.
