69,140 new cars sold in Croatia in 2025, up 8.3% year on year

ZAGREB, 5 Jan (Hina) – A total of 69,140 new passenger cars were sold in Croatia in 2025, up 8.3% from 2024, while December sales rose 15.4% year on year to 4,206 vehicles, according to data from the Promocija Plus market research agency.

Škoda  was the best-selling brand in 2025, with 9,458 vehicles sold and a market share of nearly 13.7%. Volkswagen ranked second with 8,594 vehicles and a market share of 12.4%, followed by Opel with 6,063 units and an 8.7% share.

Renault placed fourth with 5,300 vehicles sold (7.7%), while Suzuki was fifth with 4,299 units (6.2%). Toyota followed with 4,119 vehicles, ahead of Dacia (3,794), Hyundai (3,075) and Kia (2,697), while Audi completed the top ten with 2,635 sales.

Among premium brands, BMW sold 2,380 vehicles and Mercedes-Benz 1,325. Sales of high-end marques included 351 Porsches, 12 Bentleys and four Lamborghinis, while Aston Martin, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce each sold three vehicles.

Among newer Asian brands, Geely sold 895 vehicles, MG 730 and Forthing 421. Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD sold 365 cars, 12 more than Tesla.

The best-selling model in December 2025 was the VW T-Cross with 248 units, followed by the Škoda  Kodiaq (227) and the Škoda  Octavia (168).

By fuel type, petrol cars remained dominant with 32,574 units sold, accounting for 47.1% of the market.

Hybrids followed with 25,270 vehicles and a 36.5% share, while diesel models accounted for 8,684 units, or 12.6%. Electric vehicles totalled 1,334 sales (1.9%), while gas-powered cars accounted for 1,278 units (1.8%).
