MOSTAR, December 17 (FENA) – Mostar will host the first official Repair Café in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans this Thursday, placing it alongside global cities such as Amsterdam and Berlin, the Garage Workshop Association announced.

The Repair Café is part of the project “Circular Economy in Action: Educational Repair and Sustainability Workshops for Youth,” supported by the FBiH Ministry of Education and Science. The opening will feature a series of free educational workshops from Thursday to Saturday.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts through five specialized modules – repairing wooden items, basic bicycle maintenance and tuning, diagnosing and repairing small household appliances, textile repair and saving favorite clothing items, and using 3D scanning and printing to repair plastic parts.

According to the Garage Workshop Association, a Repair Café is neither a typical service nor a café. It is a global movement that started in Amsterdam to promote a repair culture instead of discarding items.

“Our goal is not just to fix an item, but to bring repair knowledge back into everyday life. The Repair Café is a place where people learn in a relaxed atmosphere how to understand a malfunction and be part of the solution, rather than just passive consumers,” the Garage Workshop emphasized.

After the official opening, Repair Café Mostar will continue as a permanent initiative with regular free sessions open to the public, positioning the city as a regional leader in promoting the circular economy.
