In Italy more than one in 4 children between the ages of 3 and 17 (equal to 26.7%) is overweight, a condition which in Campania rises to 36.5% of minors, according to the tenth Report on Obesity in Italy, edited by Auxologico IRCCS, presented in Naples at the University of Suor Orsola Benincasa in the presence of the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci.

Seven of the ten regions with values higher than the national average are found in the South and the highest levels, with over a third of children overweight, are recorded not only in Campania, but also in Calabria (35.8%), Basilicata (35.0%) and Sicily (33.8%).

On the contrary, the lowest percentages are observed in the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano (15.1% and 17.4%), in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (18.4%) and in Lombardy (19.5%).

Thirty Italian and foreign clinicians and researchers contributed to the drafting of the Report “The revolution in obesity”, committed to overcoming the challenge of obesity.
