In the third quarter of 2023, 1.602В million people in Croatia were in work, about 108,000 fewer than at the same time last year, while the number of the unemployed fell by 30,000 to 93,000 persons, according to figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
The survey unemployment rate, the percentage of unemployed people in the economically active population, was 5.6%.
The DZS noted that the data since the first quarter of 2023 was based on the results of the 2021 census, while the previous data was based on the 2011 census. To ensure consistency and comparability of the data for this year with the data for previous years, revised data will be published at a later date and will be consistent with the 2021 census.
A labour force survey showed that 1.602В million people in Croatia were in work in the third quarter of 2023, which is 9,000 fewer than in the second quarter. Compared with the third quarter of 2022, the number of gainfully employed persons decreased by 108,000 persons or 6.3%.
At the same time, the number of unemployed persons fell by 24.4% on theВ annual basis and by 2.1% on the quarterly basis.
The employment rate, the percentage of the employed population in the working-age population (15 to 64 years), was 65.8% in Q3 2023,В down by 0.2 percentage points from the previous quarter and up 0.7В percentage points from Q3 2022.
Croatia’s survey unemployment rate in Q3 for the population aged between 15 and 64 stood at 5.6%, down by 0.1 percentage point on the quarterly basis and by 1.2 percentage points on the annual basis.
