World Poetry Day, marked by cultural events in Romanian Cultural Institute representative offices
The Romanian Cultural Institute is marking World Poetry Day in its representative offices in Rome, Lisbon, Paris, Brussels, Stockholm and Beijing with a series of cultural events highlighting the significant contribution made by poets and writers from around the world.
* The Accademia di Romania in Rome supports the participation of poet Ruxandra Cesereanu, on 20 and 21 March, in this year’s edition of the annual event organised by members of the EUNIC Rome cluster in collaboration with the United Federation of Italian Writers (FUIS) and under the patronage of the European Commission Representation in Italy.
* ICR Brussels, in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Romanian Library of the Netherlands, supports the organization of the event titled The author as translator – the story of a Dutch writer who fell in love with Romanian literature, dedicated to Jan Willem Bos, one of the most important foreign promoters of Romanian literature. The event will take place on 23 March at the OBA Library in Amsterdam and will include, among other things, a literary dialogue with Maria Dicieanu (Romanian Library of the Netherlands), about the translation of Romanian books into Dutch, with the participation of representatives of several publishers and professionals in the field of books.
* ICR Paris supports the events organised within the framework of Printemps des poetes.
Wanda Mihuleac and Editions Transignum are organising two conferences and a performance-reading at the Auditorium de la Halle Saint-Pierre in the Musee d’Art brut, on 23 March, at 15:00. On this occasion, academician Ion Pop, university professor, literary avant-garde theorist, poet, critic and Romanian literary historian, will deliver a lecture titled Romanian Surrealist Avant-garde in an International Context.
At the same time, ICR Paris and the Sorbonne Nouvelle’s Romanian language department, represented by the Romanian language lecturer Crina Bud, will also organize a conference on Romanian Surrealist Avant-garde in an International Context, with a focus on the European context, in the Romanian language department of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University, on 28 March.
* ICR Lisbon, in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy to the Portuguese Republic and with the support of the Portuguese Writers’ Association and the Guerra e Paz Publishing House, is organising the first edition of Printemps des poetes (Poets’ Spring), which will bring together Portuguese writers Luis Filipe Castro Mendes, Jose Manuel de Vasconcelos, Ana Marques Gastao, Fernando Pinto do Amaral and Romanian writer Dinu Flamand. This literary meeting will take place at the FNAC Chiado bookstore, on 28 March, starting at 18″00.
* ICR Stockholm has organised the twelfth edition of the Romanian-Swedish Translation Workshop, together with the National Book Center (CENNAC) and the Swedish Writers’ Union (Forfattarforbundet).
* ICR Beijing was the organizer of an event held in collaboration with the French Embassy and the French Institute in China, within the framework of Le Printemps des poetes.
