The embassies of the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany today commemorated Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku and condemned once again the armed attack in Banjska, where he was killed.
In a post accompanied by a photo of Ambassador Reiner Rudolph paying tribute at the hero’s grave, the German Embassy reiterated its call for Milan Radoicic, the man who took responsibility for the attack, to be held accountable.
“Today we mark the third anniversary of the killing of Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku. The self-declared leader of the attack has still not been held accountable. It is a priority that justice is served without any further delay,” the German Embassy wrote on its official Facebook account.
The U.S. Embassy also accompanied its statement with a photo of Bunjaku’s grave, calling for justice for him and Kosovo.
“We reiterate our call for those responsible to be held accountable,” the embassy said in its post.
Meanwhile, the British Embassy, recalling that Bunjaku lost his life in service to his country, paid tribute to “the courage and professionalism demonstrated by the Kosovo Police in responding to the attack and restoring security, as well as the continued efforts of Kosovo prosecutors to bring justice.”
The embassy also stressed that accountability remains essential.
“Those responsible, including Milan Radoicic, have still not faced justice. We again call on the Serbian authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable without further delay,” the embassy said.
