The United States is an irreplaceable partner for Italy, President Sergio Mattarella said on the July 4 Independence Day holiday Friday telling President Donald Trump in a message on the occasion that the transatlantic bond was central to peace.
“The United States is an irreplaceable partner for Italy,” said Mattarella in the message to Trump.
“The solidity of bilateral relations and the extraordinary intensity of political dialogue are a reflection of a bond that is deeply felt and shared by our peoples.
“Profitable exchanges at the economic, cultural and social levels – which benefit from the contribution of the dynamic Italian-American community – contribute to a historic partnership that we intend to continue to consolidate on the basis of equity and mutual prosperity.
“Faced with an international situation characterized by multiple and complex challenges, starting with the dramatic situations in Ukraine and the Middle East, the United States and Italy share the objective of promoting paths of stabilization and peace – today so compromised – by promoting cooperation and global security.
“In this context, full of critical issues and tensions, the continuing centrality of the transatlantic bond remains the key to addressing them effectively”.
